-The smell of sweat.....blood......bodily fluids......it fills the air of Kurt Newman's wrestling school here in Chicago, Illinois. It's 5 in the morning and I've already ran for an hour. To cool down I get the wrestling ring set up for the day so that the other students and myself can get our training in for the day. The ring post are already up. Painted blue. A fresh coat of paint was applied two years ago. The wood plank is laid down already between the post. A new one was bought last year. Before that, it had been ten years. A foam padding lays on top to help with cushioning. A canvas lays on top of that. I scrub the canvas daily to clean it from the days efforts. Nothing but soap, water, and a large scrubbing brush to clean the blood, sweat, and spit from the days work. We switch it up when it comes to ring ropes. Some promotions use natural fiber wrapped in tape. Other use steel cables that are encased by a rubber hose. I prefer the steel cable. Stiffer and hurts more when you choke someone with it. The ring is 14 feet by 14 feet. We prefer the smaller rings because that's what we're known for, close combat training. No flips. No diving. Ground and pound with technical skills.
-I've been setting up wrestling rings since my days working in the NJFC Dojo. They made it an important fundamental in our training every day to set up and break down a ring because without the wrestling ring.....there would be no wrestling. Also, if your a wrestler.....you should know how to set up a ring. I can't help but think how many active, so called wrestlers, even know how to set up a ring. I bet my two opponents for this Sunday don't know how to.
-Standing next to the ropes, I hunch over the top rope and look down at the ground as I mentally get myself ready for the day. A thousand squats. Push-ups. Sit ups. Training with new and current students. Working with wrestling veterans that need some tune ups with their abilities. Healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All healthy. Watching film of up coming and future opponents.
-It's boring. It's not stylish. It's not meant for everyone. But to be the best, you need to make sacrifices. I can have fun when I'm older. I can sleep when I die. I can hang out with friends and have a wife and kids when the big injury finally takes me away from the wrestling industry. I'm 21. The whole world is in front of me. Make my mark now. Enjoy life later.
-Looking up I stare at the camera and start this stupid promo. It's not high produced. It's not filtered. It doesn't have animation in the back ground. It doesn't have some short story or movie fill in where I'm killing ninjas. I don't need that. All I need is a camera with lonely old me in the middle of a wrestling ring.....like it used to be......like it should be.
Jack Tillman: "I can hear all the so called "experts" in the back saying that Jack Tillman doesn't stand a chance. It's a two on one match where Jack is facing off against the hottest female star in Redemption today and the Super Hero of Redemption. The numbers aren't in his favor because the Jew Blazer and Kayla Richards have all the momentum in the world since they grabbed those suit cases with the title opportunities in them. They'd earned those title shots because the two of them have been part of the foundation of what has been making Redemption great now since it's opening.
I'm glad they're getting their praise. I'm glad their getting the recognition. I'm glad that their getting the spot light on them......because as soon as they step in that wrestling ring......my place of worship......my church........and as soon as that bell rings........they belong to me and my world because I don't see a two on one match. I see two poorly trained sports entertainers verses a very well trained professional wrestler who shouldn't be fucked with. And when they step into my ring...... they won't be getting praises.......instead they'll be getting elbow shots to the head. Instead of recognition for doing such a great job of entertaining the fans......they'll be getting kicks to the face by my boot. And instead of having the spot light on them and everyone watching them......they'll be on the mat....tapping out to the Recluse or getting pinned after I hit them with the Ball Room Blitz."
-I can beat both individually without a sweat. I can beat both as well with this two on one match. I'm a wrestler while they're entertainers. I can handle a beating. They can't. But because they know they can't beat me, they'll play their tricks. They'll play their mind games. They'll do what ever it will take to keep those brief cases.
-Let them try.
-Walking to the center of the ring, I sit and do my best to be at peace with myself as I shut my eyes. My tone.....it's calm and collective......like it's been this entire time.
Jack Tillman: "When I think of the Jew Blazer, I see a sports entertainer who's not committed enough to this industry to get better and to be the best of the best. I see a scrawny 150lbs child that's always dreaming to be something that he can never be because he just doesn't have what it takes to step to that next level and be a legend in this industry. A sad little man wanting to be something that he never will because he doesn't want to put in the work or effort. But the fans love him. They cheer him every time he comes down. He does his poses. Says some cheesy catch phrase and sells his merchandise to the masses. That's what he's good at. He gives the fans hope. He reminds them that if the Jew Blazer can make it here.....then anyone can make it.
But not everyone can make it into this industry. Not everyone is cut out to be a professional wrestler..... and every time I see you or hear your name......I want to break your scrawny ass and show off the gory remains to the masses.....to let the Redemption universe know that when they step in a wrestling ring with the likes of a professional wrestler like myself who takes this industry personal.......that they will get hurt.....and that sports entertainers like yourself Jew Blazer will no longer mock the wrestling world with your antics and attempts to make this industry a laughing stock like you have been doing since day one.
Then you have the likes of Kayla Richards who's nothing different than The Jew Blazer. When I think about you Kayla I see a sports entertainer who's only relevance in the industry is because you banged uglies with Matthew Shields. If it wasn't for the fact that Kayla hung so close to Matthews leg, sang his praises, and played the whole royalty thing out, management wouldn't think that she was relevant. So they've given her opportunity after opportunity.....even though she never deserved anything she's been given. I worked my way from the bottom and made my way to the top of this company. I paved my own path. I didn't take any short cuts. I got where I am today not because of Matthew Shields. I put in the time....the effort....the blood with my own bare hands.
Kayla I see a little girl who spends more time in front of a mirror, applying make up to her face and doing her hair than watching videos of her opponents. I see a chick who'd rather show off her tits to the masses to distract everyone that your a crappy wrestler. I see a 140 pound girl who's not going to last long in this industry because instead of putting muscle and mass on you to be able to go one on one with the likes of someone like me.....you instead want to keep your girlish figure to impress and keep the attention of Shields and all the other nerds in the audience that eye fuck you on a daily basis because of the skimpy outfits that you wear."
-What a waste on two roster spots on two undeserving individuals. I know plenty of good wrestlers out there in the indie scene that are much better in that ring than the two of them. But because they don't have the looks or aren't the best on he mic.....they're passed over.
-Laying in my back, I look up at the ceiling and get myself mentally ready for the one thousand squats I'm about to perform. Always a pain in the ass, mostly it just takes forever. But it's something that I've kept in my training regiment since my NJFC Dojo days.
Jack Tillman: "Two individuals who like to talk more than to show their actions in that ring.....I have a history though of talking less and letting my actions do the talking for me. So once you step in the ring with me......all those words and all those empty threats the two of you throw at me won't mean a damn thing because when I get my hands on you......I'll show you pain that you thought never existed.
So to the so called experts breaking down this match.......do you really want to see two undeserved sports entertainers face off for the Heavy Weight and New Gen Title? Deep down you know that neither will stand a chance against the current title holders. They don't have the experience or the skills to beat them. They're weak. Fragile. And just don't have it to hold those titles in their hands.
But I do. I've been trained by the very best. People who've held onto numerous World Titles during their 20 plus careers. Hall Of Famers in multiple wrestling organizations who will be able to pave a path for me to make either title and Redemption great. I have a manager who knows what he's doing and will do everything in his powers to make my path to greatness legendary. All of it......in my hands.
So......who truly wins? Two sports entertainers? Or a guy that's never been pinned.......never been submitted.....and was stripped of the Genesis Title because he beat the living crap out of Trixie because just like you two.....she was a sports entertainer who stepped in the ring with a very dangerous individual."
-Alright Jack......time to train.
-Standing up, I stand ready to begin my squats.
Jack Tillman: "May what ever God you believe in have mercy on your soul.....because I will give you none."
-Deep breath in......deep breath out............
