Cameras: ON
As soon as the cameras roll, the first thing that can be seen in the background is the St. Louis Cathedral in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana in Jackson Square. The three towers of the church ascend beyond the camera’s view. A figure in the foreground, previously blurry, starts to focus and be revealed as the Dropkick King, Adrien Cochrane.
“Aurora Graves, we meet again, old friend.”
A wide smile comes across the face of the three-time World Heavyweight Champion.
“I stand before you in Jackson Square, one of the most beautiful parts of my great home city since the last time I addressed you on camera prior to a match between the two of us, I did it from the abandoned ruins of a theme park I frequented as a kid. Was the last time I really used New Orleans as the setting of one of these videos...assuming you don’t count the ones that occur at my home, which is technically outside of city limits...and I feel like this great city needs to be shown off. And you know what else deserves to be shown off?”
Cochrane pauses for a moment before lowering his sunglasses to look directly into the camera.
“Just how damn talented Aurora Graves is. Yeah, people are starting to notice how great a tag team you and Damon are here in Redemption Wrestling. You two recently became the longest tag team champions in the company’s history. I think today, the reign hit 91 days. Not only that, you’re the only two-time tag team champions Redemption has seen. You have a lot to be proud of, Aurora.
“One factoid that may not be realized by everyone here in Redemption Wrestling, on the other hand, is that only one person has pinned me in the past two calendar years. In 2016 and 2017 combined, only a fateful match against Aurora Graves...then called Aurora Knight...on October 30th resulted in me being pinned. And it’s quite interesting how I come to a brand new company and the VERY FIRST match, I am given you as an opponent. Of everyone on the entire planet and on this roster, I get the one person to get over one me. Funny how this is the beginning for me in a company called Redemption Wrestling because, in a way, this could be my redemption from that loss.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bitter about the loss on a personal level. We worked together effectively as a tag team against the team that eventually took your #FSociety Tag Team Championship. One of the first things I did after our match was purchasing your wedding gift. One some level, I hope I’m not crossing a line calling you a friend.”
Shades slide back on, covering his eyes once more. The new Redemption Wrestling signee is dressed fairly simplistically, just a short sleeve black t-shirt and a pair of faded black jeans.
“Funny thing about friendship: if it’s strong enough, nothing can break it. Not even being pitted against one another in a match, which if anyone knows anything about my career, knows that I’ve had my fair share of matches against some of the closest friends I’ve had: Heather Halliwell, Justin Brooks, Kenzie Rydell, and Jimmy Riley...just to name a few of them anyway. My friendships with all of those survived the fierce battles that took place between the bells. Like the beautiful cathedral behind me, true friendships stand the test of time and pressure.
“Our friendship started after our match against one another, Aurora. This is our first match as friends. What I want more than anything from this match is for it to stay that way. Even more than a victory. But I am on a mission, Aurora. I’m on a mission to make sure that Redemption Wrestling is on notice that there is a new sheriff in town. I need to make sure that everyone in this company realizes just what happened when Adrien Cochrane stepped behind that curtain for the first time at WrestleForce. And most of all, I need to show everyone on this roster just what I’m capable of.
“Let’s be honest, to some of the people here, they don’t care about the list of accomplishments. They don’t care about my World Title wins in EXODUS Pro, PCW, or #FSociety. They don’t. They only care about what happens in the ring that bears their emblem. Quite a common attitude in this industry so it’s not anything I’m not used to. But the fact that I won the top title in three different companies who all gave me the same spiel about how I wasn’t ready for their company and what I did elsewhere didn’t matter. All the way up until the moment I stood atop the ladder and knew I had made myself into a name that no one would ever take lightly.
“Aurora, I’ve been underestimated my entire career. You’re one of the only people in this company that I don’t expect to do that to me. You’ve seen me compete. You’ve trained with me, fought with and against me, and watched me overcome odds that no one gave me a chance to come out on top of. But I can’t afford to let my guard down. You’re the match that got away, Aurora. To get this victory, it means an awful lot to me. So I guess this is a warning to you as well. I made the error of sleeping on how hard you will fight me. I walked into that match with little to gain and perhaps a bit complacent. This time, I’m hungry. I NEED this win to further my goals. I HAVE to win this match to advance my mission.”
Cochrane runs his left hand across his dyed blonde hair.
“And Aurora, I believe I can.”
Brick and plaster, beams and broken windows
Shadows pass on sidewalks cracking to the curb
I want the lights on
Repair the foundation
Maybe hire a crew
Plant a little garden
Start the renovation
Get my ass back to you

Love and great buildings will survive
Strong hearts and concrete stay alive
Through the great depressions
Yeah, the best things are designed to stand the test of time
Love and great buildings will endure
Blue skies and bloodlines are the cure
For the great deceptions in a world that's such a blur
We'll stand the test of time
We'll stand the test of time
We'll stand the test of time
