There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you
So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world

“Greetings, Redemption Wrestling!!”
Never has the Dropkick King smiled so widely in the opening of a video. The blonde hair is barely covered by a black baseball cap with gold Fleur-De-Lis in the center of it. A pair of sunglasses hangs from the top buttons of the green plaid button up shirt, untucked from his dark blue jeans.
“Oh right! Last night! Let’s start with that, it’s a wonderful story, actually! You probably want some explanation about all of that went down at WrestleForce. Admittedly, I was going for the whole ‘shocked the world’ with my big debut, but I didn’t exactly want to take any spotlight off of Yujiro Fujiwara and his big moment, capturing the championship off the man himself. Plans somewhat changed when the self-proclaimed…”
Air quotes.
“...King of the Heavyweights, Mister Matthew Shields...oh sorry, King Matthew Shields...and his dearly beloved Kayla Richards...sorry again, Queen Kayla Richards...decided they wanted to ruin Yujiro Fujiwara’s moment themselves. Probably didn’t enjoy the fact he wasn’t leaving WrestleForce with his championship. Probably enjoyed my little appearance even less. Now, you guys have seen the little love letters I’ve left for Matthew Shields for the last handful of shows. Just because you don’t acknowledge the problem, doesn’t mean it goes away, Matty! You tweeted about me coming literally one time before WrestleForce. No other tweets. No mentions in promo videos or on the air at Glory. I guess you weren’t expecting the person sending you all those graphics to be worth your time, right?”
Adrien leans in towards the camera. He smirks as he raises his voice, not out of anger, but for emphasis.
“AND THAT’S THE PROBLEM!”
Cochrane keeps the grin as he gets back into a regular standing position. With the exception of the three-time World Heavyweight Champion, the room is completely empty. Just a light fixture above Adrien’s head and white walls.
“To you, everyone else on this roster who isn’t in your little squad doesn’t matter to you. They don’t deserve respect or attention. You flood praise for Richards and Coda but who gives a crap about Xaria or Maverick, who are damn good wrestlers! In fact, I think you should be showering Fujiwara with the respect you were demanding from him. You don’t deserve to be king, Matthew. You aren’t champion anymore. You have no claim to your throne anymore. You were beaten in that ring by Fujiwara. Twice, by definition of the stipulation you wanted for your match, actually.
“And now, you have a much bigger problem. You’ve got a motivated Dropkick King standing before you who is prepared to make sure that such tyranny isn’t going to be a problem in Redemption Wrestling. I’m not going away simply due to the championship being in another’s hands because my intentions with you had nothing to do with your championship. It was never about the Redemption Wrestling Heavyweight Title. It’s all about how you treat others. It’s about how you view the locker room you should have been the leader of, claimed to be the king of and acted nothing more than a sadistic dictator who was losing his sanity, one Glory at a time. The fact that I dare have the word ‘king’ in my little moniker being considered blasphemous to you is absolutely laughable since I never once acted like a ruler. The fact it is considered treason to speak towards you or about you that isn’t verbally placing lips on your lower left cheek is ludicrous. I know everybody wants to rule the world, but you took that delusion one step too far.
“I mean, how sensitive must your ego be that you can’t handle honest criticism, exactly? How much of a precious snowflake are you that you can’t handle people saying bad words towards you? Hell, I’m prepared to take oh so many negative words from you because of my actions. I knew the consequences coming into it. I’ll smile as you tell me how I am going to be punished for my actions. I’m going to be eating a bag of popcorn the moment you start tearing apart the words I say now. Because I’m not a four-year-old who is going to cry that the big bad Matthew Shields said something bad about me.
“I’m actually prepared for the ‘who the hell are you?’ since it seems to be the insult people seem to go to first when I debut anywhere. Quick, before WrestleForce, how many Adrien Cochrane matches have you watched?! Give me an honest answer, Matty. Zero? One or two maybe? Just the whole not caring who I am or what I’ve done because you’re completely ignorant of what happens outside of the Redemption Wrestling ropes, right?
“I dunno, maybe you’ll surprise me. I haven’t exactly given you the time to react to my appearance quite yet. I’ll acknowledge the possibility that I’m not reading the variables on how you will react to this and I’m completely off base. I’m not a brilliant chess master like Chuck Matthews. Maybe you know all about me. Maybe you watched several matches of mine, even a bit of my in-ring ability and strategy. Perhaps you already believe you are properly prepared to handle me when the time comes. But you know what that requires from you, Matthew? Humility. THAT, I don’t think you’re capable of. To be willing to acknowledge what I am capable of, I think that’s just a tad bit above your paygrade. At least, the way you galavant on Twitter about how former World Champions mean nothing to you because all of them lost their titles leads me to believe you’re going to have the same attitude about mine. You’d rather have one big, gigantic reign where you never lose your title rather than be a multi-time champion. Thank you for drawing out that opinion, Alex Jones! Former champions are a laughing stock to you. But wait, you’re one of us now too! Welcome to the club, I’ll be sure to get you a t-shirt at Glory.
“Regardless, you never look at the context of any championship. Where did they win it? Who did they win it against? Did they actually lose it or did the company close before they did? What was the level of competition during their reign? Every statistic on the planet is useless unless you’re giving the whole narrative of what exactly happened and every championship won in our industry. You can’t just look at a list of titles and accomplishments and think that someone isn’t on your level. You wanna compare Dan Marino and Trent Dilfer, be my guest. Even if someone has an empty list when they first step into your company’s ring, they can still do great things and win titles, just ask Caroline O’Hara Burchill, who had won absolutely zero titles until she captured that New Gen Championship. Once upon a time in all of our careers, we didn’t have any championships on our resume either. I didn’t debut in the AWA in 2005 with anything under my belt, that’s for sure, and I’m sure you had a ‘first match’ once upon a time.
“I’m not going to deny your talent, Matthew. You wouldn’t have won that title without being a skilled individual. I am a firm believer that your attitude, not your aptitude will determine your altitude. And oh boy, what I’ve seen of that attitude of yours isn’t looking very good, Shieldsy. Talent and skill can only take you so far. There are other people with skill and talent. If I may be so bold to say I am one of them. But let me tell you what separates me from everyone else. Saw that little hashtag that displayed at WrestleForce on the video screen and was on my shirt? Want to know the story behind that?
“Nah, you’re gonna tell me you don’t care and it doesn’t matter so I’m not going to waste my breath. Not today, anyway. Today, I have but one question for you.”
The Dropkick King gives a quick wink to the camera.
“Matthew Shields, do I have your attention? Yes? Good. It would be in your best interest to keep it on me for the foreseeable future.”
The new Redemption Wrestling signing smiles as the camera fades to black.
