The faint glow of the street lights outside could be seen around the edges of a window shade; the only source of light in an otherwise pitch black room. Apart from the barely noticeable sound of cars passing by, the only other sound was the rustling of heavy fabric.
Voice: Everyone has some degree of a dark side to them. It’s just a matter of how that dark side ends up manifesting itself, and what the individual does with that dark side once it does find its way to the surface. For me, I’ve learned to embrace it from a relatively young age, and it’s helped me to bring everything into balance. For others, like Alechs Aurelio, it would seem that dark side has forced its way to the surface. It certainly showed in his last little video...

A figure in a long black cloak stood beneath the glow of a single floor lamp, with only a few locks of long blonde hair spilling from within the cloak’s confines. As the camera slowly zoomed in, a pair of hands peeked out from beneath the cloak, the tattooed knuckles revealing the tell-tale markings etched into the flesh of Aurora Graves. The hood mostly covered her face, save for her scarlet painted lips, which were spread across her face in a grin that would give Emperor Palpatine the creeps.
Aurora: Good... good! Let the hate flow through you!
The words spilled from her mouth in her best possible impression of the Dark Lord of the Sith, followed by a sinister chuckle as she pulled the hood back, revealing the rest of her face.
Aurora: Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I’ve always wanted to say something like that, and watching your last video provided the perfect opportunity. You see, Alechs, light can’t exist without darkness, nor can darkness exist without light. You can deny it all you want, but sooner or later, it’ll come out whether you want it to or not.
Did the thought ever occur to you that by flying off the handle the way you have, you’re playing right into our hands? Maybe we WANT you to get so pissed off that you’re not even thinking straight. And when you don’t think straight, you make mistakes. And believe me... making mistakes against a team like Rebel Ink – even small ones – can wind up costing you dearly.
Do you remember what I said to Honey when we faced off one on one? I told her that beating us will only motivate us to fight back even harder than we did before, so if anyone is to blame for me taking a different approach this time, it’s the two of you. You brought this on yourselves, so now, it’s time for you to face a different, far more aggressive Rebel Ink than you did last time.
She reached up, undoing the clasp that held the cloak closed at her collarbone, and with a shrug of her shoulders, she let it fall to the ground. Beneath the cloak, she wore a simple black bustier over dark blue denim capris, her championship belt strapped tightly around her waist.
Aurora: On the real, though, I really shouldn’t find your reaction all that surprising, Alechs. You see, the truth is, I’ve never been one to make light of anyone’s death – except for my jackass of an ex-husband, but that’s another story. No, the issue I have with you is the fact that you feel the need to protect her from that part of your past. If anything, it makes you look like you’re afraid to show her how vulnerable you can really be. You want so much for her to see you as her big, strong protector that you don’t want to show her anything that could damage that image.
You’re a proud man, I get that. There’s nothing wrong with being proud, but it’s that same pride that could actually damage your relationship in the long run. But what do I know about relationships? I’m just another bully that talks down to everyone. Bullies don’t care about anyone but themselves, right?
Bah, fuck it!
She scoffed, throwing her hands out in front of her as if tossing something away.
Aurora: Enough about your personal life. Tell her the truth, or don’t; I really don’t give a flying fuck. But I will say this. How do you know what she can and can’t handle unless you come clean? If you choose not to tell her, and she finds out on her own, her trust in you could be shaken. That’s not me being a bully... that’s a damn fact. Take it or leave it; I’m done watching you two play house.
She reached down, scooping up the cloak from the floor and draping it over her shoulder.
Aurora: There was a time when I couldn’t give two shits about holding a championship. I never stuck around any of the indy companies I wrestled for long enough to be in the running. I showed up, did my thing, and then I headed off to the next gig. And it wasn’t until I came to NGW that I finally found a place where I wanted to actually start building my legacy. And now, here I am, one year later, with four titles to my record, and with a partner that has been there with me through both the high and the low points of my life.
But tell me... just where in the blue hell did you ever get it in your head that I said I was better than Matthew Shields? Where have I said anything that hasn’t already been said by everyone else that’s seen how he acts? On a personal level, I can’t stand him, but I can at least give him props for being the ONLY champion in Redemption to have never lost his title. Total shit human being, but I do give credit where it’s due.
You want to show that you deserve to be in the championship picture? Then by all means, show up on Sunday and prove yourselves. We already have proven that we have what it takes, and we will continue to do so for as long as our hearts are beating. Just because Damon and I don’t fit into your little mold of what a “good person” is, doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of people that do appreciate what Damon and I have done for this business.
All we said was that you and Honey were naïve... it was YOU that jumped down our throats and opted to play the bully card. To me, that says far more about you than it does about us. It’s one thing to get mad, but if you continue to let your anger run unchecked the way you are right now, neither one of you is going to like the end result.
I don’t expect you to heed my warning, Alechs. And if I’m being honest with myself, I couldn’t care less if you did. How you view me is your own opinion; not necessarily the way the rest of the world sees me. In the grand scheme of things, there are relatively few people in this world that I respect. And every single one of those people has earned it.
Until then, I want you to bring every ounce of rage you can possibly muster, because you and I both know that Honey doesn’t have it in her. Perhaps then, you might actually fare well against us. That’s not to say you’ll be successful in winning the Redemption Tag Team Championships from us, but at least you’ll stand a fighting chance.
Hasta luego, jovencito, and remember... if you’re not careful, your dark side can take over, and that same strength that you tap into can eventually do you in.
Aurora winked as a smirk crossed her lips before walking out of the room. Her heels clicked against the floor, fading as they moved further and further down the hallway. The camera slowly zoomed in on the lamp, which started to flicker. The flickering gradually grew more erratic, until finally, in one last flash, the light went out.
