The words Coda spoke were stained with a heaping helping of skepticism as she stood in front of a large Canadian flag hung over a concrete wall.
"The wife who holds the leash claims you are someone to be feared, Martin. She sees an intimidating monster she can subtly control while I see a man so insecure that he must pretend to be a mythical creature to get himself recognized."
"Marketing does not terrify me nor should it terrify anyone else. A man who cannot keep the Genesis Championship in his possession is no one to be feared."
With a slight scoff, Coda continued.
"1.15.17. On my professional wrestling debut in Redemption Wrestling, I destroyed a man's hopes and dreams when I retired him before he could even start his career. On the same night, Martin Karloff - the supposed 'Monster Messiah' won a match against Aurora Graves via count. Now tell me. Am I supposed to be worshipping you? Am I supposed to drop down to my knees and fall in like to a delusional man who cannot get the job done? Am I supposed to admire the fact that you call yourself a monster and wordlessly accept this as the truth? This is stupid."
"I do not define myself in the same way as you do, Martin. I do not pompously call myself a monster like an egomaniac who would rather talk about his sex life than do anything remarkable. I do not find this funny. I do not find it enlightening to know that you prefer to consider yourself a monster behind closed doors. It should stay there. I believe I speak for the rest of Redemption Wrestling when I say that we do not wish to see your foreplay played out in the middle of the ring. It makes you look pathetic."
"This is the distilled version of you. This is everything anyone needs to know. You blindly accept the label in order to keep up appearances instead of proving it every night you wrestle as I do. You have fallen to mediocrity You have suffered greatly ever since you have forcibly relinquished the Genesis Championship. Now that the cavalry is here in the form of your wife Xaria, you are suddenly filled with more courage than the cowardly lion could ever hope to achieve. Now you have someone to continually feed you lies in the form of compliments. Now you have the words of the love of your life to fortify your delusions and it will only lead to your inevitable downfall."
"I wish to show you the meaning of the word monster. I wish to show you what it means to let your actions speak for themselves. I wish to show you what it is like to be broken beyond repair and I wish to see the look on your face when you realize that you have fallen short in the nickname you have given yourself. You are not The Monster Messiah. You are not The Crimson Ghost. You are not the walking personification of a horror movie. You are human. I am human. And I will show you what it is like to feel human."
"You will be good training. Competition is good. When I break you in front of the wife who desperately clings to her glory days and I watch as she sees what you have become, I will proudly let you announce you are no monster. You are just another pathetic man who loves his wife. You are just another man who could not beat me."
"Enjoy playing pretend, Mr. and Mrs. Karloff. It will not last long."
